Each market, venue, & event are different and, may require different documentation. Some may require you to show these documents, others just encourage business owners to have them. Hopefully some of this information will help navigate the often tedious terrain of permits & licensing.
Business Licensing
To operate a business in the City of Charleston, you are required to obtain a business license from the city tax office. This license must be renewed every 01/01, and starts at $64. To renew a license, you will need to provide gross sales from the previous year.

Retail Licensing
If you plan to make sales in the state of South Carolina, or want to sell your items online, you will need a Retail License from the Dept. of Revenue. Retail licenses do not need to be renewed, so long as the business does not change its address.
